Just recieved word that Harry was 2 miles north of the equator at 8:30 this morning. About 900 miles to go to the marquesas. It was reported to us from Steve and Susan on Last Resort after they talked to him over SSB. We last saw Harry on April 2nd just before he left Banderas Bay Mexico, to single hand his sailboat to the Marquesas.

Yes we are – first thing Saturday morning. Those of you also headed for Southeast, we’ll see you out there. As for the rest of you, we look forward to hearing about sailing, cruising, mad cow capers, mad customer parking plaints, and other excellent adventures from Shilshole and beyond. We will hookybob on open wifi where we find it, so please keep those posts coming. We will do the same with our own blog. Have a great summer and see you in September!

I received an email from Bill King (D-37), which I’m happy to share with the blog.
(Incidentally, I know there are quite a few lurkers out there on the docks who are still a bit shy: come on out and post!
For example, you could start by replying with your comments to this topic — let’s start a debate… )
I’ve enjoyed the blogs to date. Thought I’d mention this before I go to the Marina Office and register a complaint. Saturday afternoon, 23 April, around 4:30 I took a survey of cars parked on both sides of the driveway, in “Parking Permits Required” slots between the stop sign and the front of the bathrooms. I counted 8 cars parked with no visible parking stickers issued by the Port. While I was counting, the owners of two trucks that belonged to fishermen which were parked in the yellow “15 Min Parking” slots returned to their vehicles and took off.
The rebuilding is going to be tough enough without having the parking filled with people who are visiting but have no stickers. The Port needs to beef up their parking patrols and tow a few of these cars to make a point. Otherwise, the paying guests are going to have to walk further and further just to get to their docks. If the Port isn’t willing to police the parking during this period, the least they could do is give us a rebate on our monthly bills for the inconvenience!
Incidentally, I’d like to point out that the two trucks Bill witnessed in the “15 Min” parking spots were Roy’s sons, cleaning out the Santino. So, even though they might have been parked there longer than 15 minutes, I’d be willing to cut them some slack, as I would anyone who is doing some heavy hauling.

who left the gates open?
The Mad CowsTM are running to Madison Park this week!
Enticed by a hamburger review, we are leaving familiar territory to try the Attic Alehouse.
All Shilshole liveaboards, friends and strangers are welcome!

Saw the post on the Blog concerning the “new” Check-in/out procedures here in Mexico and thought I would send an update even thought this might all change in a week.
Currently La Paz seems to be one of the final holdouts. The Port Captain’s stance is that if you want to be part of the “new” system you have to re-checkin.Even if you have been here and already checked in.Puerto Escondido,San Carlos,P.V and Barre de navidad are currenlt working under the new system.Even though the paperwork people are saying otherwise, but why is that a surprise!
It looks like in the next 2-4 weeks this will probably be all worked out and make life alot easier for cruisers down here. There have been a few places we have by-passed because of the pain and cost of checkins.
Thanks for a great evening back on “D” dock!!!!

For the benefit of all the Shilshole Bloggers, there is a new page that collects links to all newspaper articles concerning Shilshole, as well as all the newsletters that the Port sends out if you subscribe.
Please let the blog know if you find a newspaper article that we should put on the list!
The new page is linked in the right sidebar (under Pages), but you can also visit it by clicking here.

Harry Brenker’s last known lat/long

This was Weds morning at 8 am – getting 20 kts of wind from NE
The last 4 or 5 good days of wind!
When we leave the marina after this weekend here in La Paz we will be able to communicate better with him on the SSB nets. Too much interference here with all the sailboat masts so I can only write down his position as relayed by other boats. He’s in good spirits though!
