Hi Everyone,
I had an easy sail from Rangiroa to Tahiti, got in yesterday. My anchor chain was wrapped around coral heads in Rangiroa and had to have another boat crew help get me unstuck from the land. Crew must be a good thing sometimes…
Its beautiful but too much of a big city for my taste. I’ll probably get the boat stuff done and then move to the island next door while I wait for my mail. I’m now seriously thinking of going to Sydney Australia for the off season instead of New Zealand. Friends are getting married there in Feb.
Hope all is well with all of you.

Hi folks!
We are planning a trip to the West side of Vancouver Island in late September/early October. Possible destinations: Barkley Sound, Tofino, Hot Springs. We are looking for information about the area for that time of year.
Do you have prior experience, stories to share, articles, web sites, books to recommend?
Thanks!

This just in from Harry:
I got into Ringaroa two days ago! Its the only atoll I plan to visit since its the largest and the coral isn’t so bad here. The Tuamotos have been having bad weather and we had 25 knots for the day before trying to enter the pass into the atoll, with really large swells. Another boat video’d my entrance through the pass and I hope to get a copy. It was a trip! There’s no room and the wind is blasting and the waves are feeding the standing waves in the pass. I was too tired to get too worried about it and all went well. A boat that went through an hour before me saw a 15 foot shark in the pass but I was too busy to sightsee!
All is well. I fell in love with Nuku Hiva, one’s first tropical island is like one’s first love, and I spent longer there than many. No problem. I expect to stay about a week here and then do the two or three day sail to Tahiti.
I know I’m way behing in my reporting but I’ve been doing too much to find the time to write.

Ok, so I am a little late with the first Potato Caboose update. We’ve been busy.
We purchased the Caboose back in October of 2004. What followed was the busiest eight months I could have ever imagined. Cashing in your life… great jobs, great house, cars, stuff, moving from Boise to Seattle, moving onto a 37’ sailboat… this is not an easy thing to do. Cathartic? Yes. Easy? No.

People, any of you subscribe to the Port of Seattle email newsletters? I have not received any “construction update” emails since May 9th. You know, the ones that get posted on the gate doors. They were off to a decent start when they sent them out as emails, too, but they seem to have stopped. I am still getting lots of junk about the airport and other non-Shilshole stuff, but no construction updates.
However, if you want to bookmark it, this seems to be the web page: weekly construction update
