You want to know what the cruising life is like?
I’m in Gove Harbour. If the Gulf of Carpentaria has an anus, an exit, a stage left, it’s Gove. The wind takes you here, makes you work to get here, then changes and makes you think you need some kind of lubricant to get in here. Continue Reading »

My truck was broken into last night – nothing missing just rifled. They jammed the driver’s door lock to gain access and left it a jar. Reported it to the rent-a-cops this morning. They were fairly professional up until they made the point that my truck was parked in a spot where someone could easily hide while working a lock (next to the main dumpster). They said they would keep an eye out for that spot in the future. Glad I could train these guys… sort of.

Is it normal to see pelicans around here? In six years of sailing on Puget Sound, I have never seen one. In fact, the first time I ever saw pelicans was when I sailed to California and Mexico. But these 3 birds I photographed yesterday at West Point were definitely Pelicans, even though the quality of my photos is not great.

A buddy of mine was just moved to the new “T” dock a few weeks ago. Last week he recieved a letter in the mail from the marina that informed him that he could for the low, low price of $5 a month, rent a dinghy rack to hold his dinghy on the dock. They fit into the holders behind the dock box.
According to this letter, his options are to either rent this dinghy rack from the marina or store his dinghy on his boat. They apparently do not want dinghies in the water or dinghy rafts in the water nor do they want them stored on the dock unless they are tied to one of the Marina supplied racks.
Anyone else seen or heard of this? I have not seen the letter myself. He was reading it to me over the phone.
