During these challenging times, there are many people down from the city to get some fresh air, walk the boardwalk and check out the boats.  Some will tailgate onto the docks.  Many non-resident tenants have also come down to their boats lately to spend some time.

As liveaboard residents it is incumbent upon us to “know our neighbors”. When you see someone “new” on the dock-especially if they are “just looking around”…be it guests of a neighbor or new tenants, introduce yourself and ask them “how can I help you?”, “who are you looking for?”. Here’s the email to the marina tenants from the Port of Seattle-Shilshole…

Dear Marina Moorage Customer:
On April 1, 2020, the Port of Seattle Commission proclaimed that tenants and residents at Port of Seattle facilities shall not be evicted for inability to pay rent through June 30, 2020, including live-aboard residents and other moorage customers, and authorized the Executive Director to provide financial relief to these residents and customers consistent with motion 2020-07. From the Shilshole Marina office…

Shilshole Bay Marina’s Customer Service Facilities project is entering the phase in which the marina’s parking lots will undergo grading and drainage improvements as well as an asphalt overlay. This seven-phase project recently started in our north parking lot and will eventually encompass most of the Shilshole’s lots, most with paving dating back to Shilshole’s inception in the 60’s. The one area that is not being repaved is the parking lot immediately south of the marina office. The last section to be repaved will be done near the end of June. Continue reading →

Today was our Dock Captain meeting with the Port where we have an opportunity to hear the latest updates from the Port regarding security, construction, proposed changes, and any other issues concerning Shilshole Marina.  This meeting today held by VHF radio dealt with our current CoVid19 crisis.  Here are the notes…

The North Building is expected to open in May while the larger Central and South Buildings (near M2 and M4) will open in mid-June. After new buildings are open the current M4 and M6 restroom buildings will be removed, and the site-wide paving and asphalt overlay work is scheduled to be completed by July. Read more here.
