Ship Canal Bridges Extended Closures

The Coast Guard has issued a temporary deviation from the operating schedule that governs three Seattle Department of Transportation bridges: the Ballard Bridge (LLNR 18180), mile 1.1, the Fremont Bridge (LLNR 18182), mile 2.6, and the University Bridge (LLNR 18235), mile 4.3,all crossing the Lake Washington Ship Canal in Seattle, WA. The deviation is necessary to accommodate highway traffic during the closure of the Alaskan Way Viaduct and prior to opening the SR-99 Tunnel. This deviation authorizes the three subject bridges to not open to marine vessels, less than 1000 tons, unless the vessel has in tow a vessel of 1000 or more gross tons, from 0001 on 11 Jan 2019 to 2359 on 09 Feb 2019. The hours to not open the three subject bridges to marine vessels are from 0700 to 1000 and from 1530 to 1900 seven days per week.

New Recycling Program at Shilshole

Foulies for the Homeless

Everybody has some old foulies hanging in their closet or in their hanging locker on the boat, maybe some boxed up in the attic or garage. Maybe they’re just too big now

IMGP8090cropped

after you’ve lost all that weight last year…:) You’ve had them for years, you don’t use them, don’t fit any longer and aren’t good enough to sell. Don’t take them to a for profit charity, bring them to Sail Northwest here at Shilshole and we’ll put together truckloads of old gear to take over to The Bridge Care Center where they will be lovingly given out to people in our community that are in need and asking for help.   Read more

There is a small $20 entry fee, (which covers beer, trophys, and race committee boat fuel) and you don’t have to have any racing experience. A Skippers’ Party will be held at the Ballard VFW Post (2812 NW Market St., just East of the Sloop Tavern) at 1800 hrs (6pm) on Saturday before the race.
