plunder

Monday another vehicle in the Shilshole parking lot got burglarized and had it`s catalytic converter stolen. We are under siege. The port has options available to combat this scourge but has not taken them.
Nor will they until we the tenants make it uncomfortable for the commissioners and the staff. One option is to salt the parking lot with the cars most targeted by catalytic converter thieves. Equip those cars with silent alarms connected to receivers in the Ports security vehicles.
The other option is to file claims against the Ports insurance carrier. The price we pay for moorage implicitly includes security for our personal property. Make the price of ignoring security for our vehicles expensive enough for the port and they will take steps to control they’re cost.
I will welcome other suggestions to this forum. Thanks. Dan Kruzich.

crime

Sometime between last Thursday, February 4 and today, Monday February 8, the catalytic converter for my car, a Toyota Prius was stolen. We are under siege. I’m told four catalytic converters from Prius’ were stolen in the last two weeks.
This was two rows away from E dock. Continue reading

reduced size parking spaces

hello-

i’m hoping there are others among us who are dismayed or even outraged as i am about this matter. the old spaces were 8’5″ and the new ones are 8’0″- a reduction of 5″. this translates to a total reduction of 10″ between cars. this is going to result in more damage to our vehicles, larger vehicles to be unable to open their doors when another vehicle is parked in the middle of it’s space. the apparent idiotic reason for this is to create more parking. i have lived here for over 18 years and the only time i have had trouble parking is during the summer when unpermitted vehicles park in the marina. at those times, if i walk from t/u to r/s i will see 5-10 non-permited vehicles parked in the permit only spots.

tree removal

About a month ago I filed a complaint with the Seattle Buildings and inspection department objecting to the removal of four trees just to the North of the marina office. I objected that these were mature trees that were possibly within the shoreline management acts distance from the water that would require a permit. The cities tree removal ordinance (SMC 25.11) requires a permit also.
The complaint was assigned to a Betty Rasmussen. I spoke with Betty today and she says that she contacted a Robert Hoyman at the port asking for a arborist report. The file number of the complaint is 009478-19CP. I offered to Betty to be the point person for this issue since she is swamped with complaints. Post to this forum and I will relay to Betty.
This is not the first time the marina has removed trees with no apparent notice. I mostly want to know where substitute trees have been planted as required under the law. I will update the community as further developments occur. Thank you. Dan Kruzich, D-11.

SLA Winter Party at CYC

The Shilshole Liveaboard Association put together a great little Winter Party at the Corinthian Yacht Club.  Of course, there was a fine cruiser potluck, and I was thrilled to see a good turn-out from O-dock. With a fun Monty Python theme, Kristen and her crew decorated with banners, spam and mini-grails, and even a entry drawbridge. We had live music, good camaraderie, and even a silly walk. It was a small Winter turn-out, and with only one loved child, so she got most of the pics. What a good fun evening! Hope you can come next time – thanks all!  see pics here…
