Little Library at Shilshole
Sheri, a liveaboard on M dock, and a board member of the Shilshole Liveaboard Assoc. has been planning, and just got approval for, a Little Library book exchange here at Shilshole. These are little kiosks that you may have seen in our local neighborhoods where you can take a book or donate one of yours (a much better solution than just throwing them into the laundry room!)
Please check out her GoFund me page to help raise the funds for this great project for our marina families.

Tariff #6-Port’s Rules and Regulations
Here is the Port of Seattle’s 2020 Tariff #6 that lists the current rules and regulations at Shilshole. It can also be found under the “More Info” tab at the top of this page. Please read through it to be familiar with the rules regarding sublease, condition of your boat, control of pets, etc..
Happy New Year!
Your Shilshole Liveaboard Assoc.
wishes you and your family good health,
prosperity, and peace in 2020!

Shilshole Free Pile
One person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Our old boat parts, books, etc may be exactly what your neighbor needs. For those that are on Facebook here at Shilshole, there is an online free swap exchange. Here is a description from their site…
“The Shilshole Free Pile Group is for members of the Shilshole Marina community who have items they no longer need for but could still be of use to others. For years people have been leaving perfectly usable items for by the dumpsters, in restrooms, and in the laundry room. Items range from high-end electronics to clothing. It seems that the current port policy is to throw these items in the trash when found sitting by the dumpsters or left in the laundry too long. Consider this group a virtual Free Pile area for items you would like to get rid of without adding to a landfill. -this is a closed group for current Tenants of Shilshole Marina -first come, first serve. -suggestions are appreciated. rules may change and evolve through time. Please feel free to invite other Tenants. Cheers”
2020 Parking Permits
They can be picked up in the marina office (they are not mailed), and should be on your vehicle before Feb 1st.

Fire on P dock
This morning a @30 foot power boat caught fire at slip P71. It started about 11:30 and was contained by the fire dept by 11:50. No other boats were involved other than slight damage to the vinyl dodger of the boat next door. No one was on board and when the first explosion occurred, a nearby liveaboard called 911.
Reminder, in an emergency in the marina, be sure to turn your VHF on to CH 71 to hear any updates.

Projects in Ballard
We have all been affected these past several months by the bike trail construction (aka Missing Link, aka Ballard Multimodal) between the Locks and 24th st. It should be done in the late spring according to SDOT.
Then, in mid-summer, SDOT will begin construction of the NW Market St Paving Project which encompasses paving, sidewalk repair, curb ramp upgrades, water main replacements and stormwater drainage improvements.

From 2020 to 2021, Seattle Public Utilities and King County Wastewater Treatment Division are building an underground storage tunnel to significantly reduce the amount of polluted stormwater (from rain) and sewage that flows into the Lake Washington Ship Canal, Salmon Bay and Lake Union from our sewer system. This will be a 2.7-mile, 18-ft diameter tunnel that will extend from Ballard to Wallingford.
