Our Shilshole neighbors who lost their home
These are our neighbors whose boat caught on fire and sank last Sat. Luckily they weren’t onboard, but it is their home and they lost everything. There is a GoFundMe page to help them and Angela has a donation box at Dockside Solutions.

Boat sinks, 2 others damaged in blaze last night

Most of you heard the 1/2 hour of sirens from the fire response and have probably already walked down to M dock to see the damage. When we have more details, we will publish.
…no other details (like cause, who reported it, etc) are available at this time (Sat 5:34pm)
- Reminder..whenever you hear many sirens, tune into VHF ch 71, introduce yourself and listen for updates. (VMan meets on Monday evenings at 8pm on Ch71 to hear the latest marina security issues and to help you get familiar with your radio.)
- As always, please first call 911 if you ever see a fire in the marina. Never cut loose the boat on fire, as it could drift into other boats and start additional fires and clog the waterway for the fireboats. But, if you can safely move nearby boats away from the fire, do so. Also, the fire hoses on the dock need to be fully extended before they can be filled with water.
Port/Dock Captain meeting notes

Ballard Bicycle Missing Link Final
The final route for the long debated “missing link” of the Burke Gilman Trail has been chosen. This proposed trail would run along Market Street between the Ballard Locks and 24th Avenue Northwest, then turn on to Shilshole Avenue Northwest and run along the south-side of the street. The existing trail east of the Ballard Bridge, along Northwest 45th Street, will be improved to allow for better access for businesses and safer travel for bicyclists and pedestrians.

“No-Discharge Zone” for Puget Sound
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a final affirmative determination that adequate sewage pump-out facilities are available for recreational and commercial vessels to support the Washington Department of Ecology’s proposed “No-Discharge Zone” for Puget Sound.
Ecology has proposed to establish a “No-Discharge Zone” for Puget Sound which would prohibit the discharge of vessel sewage – both treated and untreated – into Puget Sound waters. Ecology’s petition concluded that there is sufficient need for establishing a No-Discharge Zone to protect water quality and the related ecological, economic, and recreational benefits provided by Puget Sound. Seattle RV Show Feb 9-12
Why an RV post on a boat site? Well…many systems on both RVs and Boats are very similar…galley, head, electrical, solar, etc. Most RV systems also tend to be less expensive than marine systems.
Here is an opportunity to check out the booths, layouts/systems, and get ideas of what may work on your boat. http://seattlervshow.com/seminars
