The Festival celebrates the return of the North Pacific fishing fleet to the terminal, works to increase the public’s knowledge of the importance of the fishing industry as well as Fishermen’s Terminal to Seattle while raising money for the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial Foundation. This is an all-volunteer event that depends on over 200 volunteers for its success.
The Festival provides families with a fun and educational outing on the waterfront as well as an opportunity to learn more about seafood. Hands-on art projects with fishing themes, including the popular wooden boat building and “Fishing for Fun” fish pond, are complementary for all children and admission to the Festival is free.

A Skippers meeting will be online at 7:00 pm Friday, Sept. 12th. See the race instructions for details.
Your Shilshole Liveaboard Assoc. will hold its annual meeting this coming Saturday, 8-23 to review our past year’s accomplishments and discuss upcoming issues affecting us as liveaboards here at Shilshole and within the City of Seattle. If you are a Port-authorized Shilshole Liveaboard, you are welcome to attend. There are also a couple open positions on the board if you are interested in getting involved. This meeting will be held on the marina plaza from 6-8 pm.
As anyone that has been around saltwater for the past decade has noticed, the Sea Stars (aka starfish) have all disappeared. They were affected by a bacteria that caused them to basically “melt”. They are just now starting to recover (if the seagulls will leave them alone).

The UofW has worked to finally discover the cause…

Port Townsend hosts the largest wooden boat festival in North America, the place where kids and adults alike experience the magic of getting on the water, the beauty of wooden boats, and the richness of our maritime culture.
….to the Port of Seattle Police and the marina staff for hosting the National Night Out. It was a great catered BBQ with about 100+ attendees, and the rain held off til after 8!
Seafair Weekend is Seattle’s premier boating event, air show, and festival all rolled into one.
