These are our neighbors whose boat caught on fire and sank last Sat. Luckily they weren’t onboard, but it is their home and they lost everything. There is a GoFundMe page to help them and Angela has a donation box at Dockside Solutions.

Most of you heard the 1/2 hour of sirens from the fire response and have probably already walked down to M dock to see the damage. When we have more details, we will publish.
…no other details (like cause, who reported it, etc) are available at this time (Sat 5:34pm)
Last Tue was the quarterly Port/Dock Captain meeting to hear about marina updates, security, events and to voice concerns. Here are the notes:
For the last two years the crew of S/V Bristol Blue (Ned Kohlhauff and Kristen Sierra) has headed up this activity. Due to several other commitments they will not be available to this year.
This event is sponsored by the Shilshole LiveAboard Association. If you live on a boat here a Shilshole Marina you are a member. The tour consists of volunteers that are willing to show their boats to the general public 12 noon to 4 pm on June 10 2017. Rounding up 3-4 other liveaboard boats to participate in the tour is the primary responsibility of the tour volunteer. Attending a couple of meetings with the Port of Seattle staff involved with putting on this event and getting the other tour volunteers to sign a release of harm document for each boat is also included.
If you are interesting in volunteering for this event you can call or email Kristen Sierra 206-890-5756 amazonred53@gmail.com
The March meeting will focus on the demographic changes and growth Seattle is now seeing and will experience over the next one to two decades. With a better understanding of these wider changes we can be better prepared to intelligently evaluate options and lobby for the best interests of our community. Come hear our panel of speakers…
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a final affirmative determination that adequate sewage pump-out facilities are available for recreational and commercial vessels to support the Washington Department of Ecology’s proposed “No-Discharge Zone” for Puget Sound.
Ecology has proposed to establish a “No-Discharge Zone” for Puget Sound which would prohibit the discharge of vessel sewage – both treated and untreated – into Puget Sound waters. Ecology’s petition concluded that there is sufficient need for establishing a No-Discharge Zone to protect water quality and the related ecological, economic, and recreational benefits provided by Puget Sound. Last Thur, someone was throwing rocks from the train tracks down into the parking lot at the north end of the marina. According to marina security, several cars were damaged…some quite severely (approx. $10,000). There was a large police response to this incident-both City and Port, but the person got away. Burlington Northern will also respond to any activity on their tracks.
If you ever see/experience something like this..please say something!

With all the rain we had this past week, the combined sewer/rain water overflow maxed out the West Point treatment plant and was released untreated into Puget Sound. The plant is currently operating at 50% capacity and may do so for a couple months. Obviously, it’s best to avoid water sports like swimming/paddle boarding. Good thing crabbing season is still 6 months away! read these links for more details…
..and they blame boaters for pollution!
2017 parking passes are now available-and MUST BE ON YOUR VEHICLE BY MAR 1ST. All tenants get one free pass. You can pick yours up at the marina office (they aren’t mailed out), where you can also update your contact information. Be sure to park your 2nd car, and have your guests park, in the non-permit section closer to the street.
Also, make sure your car tabs are up to date and on your vehicle-especially if you are going to be away on your boat! The Port is towing cars with expired tabs. Review the parking policy here.
