Who we are…

The Shilshole Liveaboard Assoc. (SLA) is a neighborhood association, that was formed to serve as a conduit for sharing experience, education, and information between people living aboard their recreational boats at Shilshole and their larger community.

The SLA has a close working relationship with the Marina/Port of Seattle; manages the Shilshole Blog, the Dock Captain Program, Shilshole Prepares, and maintains a permanent seat on the Ballard District Council.

The SLA also acts as the representative of our liveaboard community on issues that are a concern to the membership like: marina security, the Liveaboard Agreement with the Port, and community participation.  In order to accomplish this, we need to hear from you!  Together we can protect our lifestyle and the use of our recreational boats.

Moorage Rate Increase Jan 2024

The Port of Seattle recently completed its annual review of moorage rates and current market conditions in the area. After this review, rates were adjusted accordingly, and an email was sent to the tenants by the Port of Seattle.

Effective January 1, 2024, monthly moorage rates (and most other fees) here at Shilshole Bay Marina will increase by 10-12%!  We encourage you to thoroughly read the new Tariff #6, as this dictates all fees and regulations here at Shilshole.

Christmas Ships

The Holiday season is upon us…time to decorate your boat

with lights and share some good cheer with your neighbors!

Argosy Parade of Boats

details here:    Christmas Ship™ Festival Schedule – Argosy Cruises

…and check out the nearby light displays in the Olympic Manor neighborhood on 85th and our marina lights from the Sunset Hill Park!

Here are some other Seattle area Holiday events...

Yacht/Boating/Cruising Clubs

Joining a group of fellow boaters is a great way to learn from others with a similar passion; more about your boat and how to use it, getting involved in boating-related activities (ie racing if you’re a cruiser, youth lessons), and of course, the social aspect of potlucks, dances and meeting new friends.  There are several nearby clubs and organizations that are listed here:

Corinthian Yacht Club Sloop Tavern Yacht Club
Shilshole Bay Yacht Club Puget Sound Crusing Club
Seattle Yacht Club Seattle Singles Yacht Club
Olympic Yacht Club

Spring is Here! Finally…

After 8 months, we are finally getting back to 70+°!  Neighbors are coming out of hiding, dock box conversations ensue, and boats are getting cleaned!

Here’s a couple reminders that may help…

  • The Port has a great haz-mat recycling program! Used oil, diesel and hydraulic fluid goes in tank near M2 restroom; used batteries, gasoline, and antifreeze/coolant go to Hazmat Box down near Seaview Boatyard (south end)
  • Garbage goes in the green waste container; all recycling goes in the yellow containers.
  • Please put your donated “junk” (items you no longer need but don’t want to toss) near the dumpster and not at the gate, so more people can see them.
  • Remind your guests and crew to park near the street in General Parking. Also, make sure your license plate tabs are up to date.  The Port can tow all illegally parked vehicles.
  • Please control your dogs (by your side or on a leash at all times) and please clean up after them! (the Seattle Leash Law is in effect on the docks, and Animal Control could be called for problem pets)
  • To avoid smash and grab car break-ins, do not leave items visible in your car.
  • There have been prowlers on the docks and in the waterways so please lock your boat, dinghy, etc and please call the Port’s cell phone, 601-4089, if you see anything/anyone suspicious.

Thank you for helping keep this a nice place to moor and live!

A Big Thank You…

…to Stephanie, Darrell and all the staff at SBM and the Port of Seattle that provided a wonderful evening of food, holiday lights competition and customer appreciation for the tenants of Shilshole. This was a nice change from the 2 years of Covid lockdown and was well attended.
