Restrooms and Laundry are open on Monday!

Finally!  After a 15 yr delay from when this project was first scheduled, and then we had the multiple CoVid delays this summer, we will now have new restrooms, showers and laundry!  Thank you Port of Seattle!

Security Phone Numbers

These numbers are posted on each gate and everyone should have these in their phone.  Please save this image to your phone or take a picture of the one on the gates.  There is also a link on the right side of this page.  And, as always, if you see something, say something!

Some helpful reminders…

  • The Port has a great haz-mat recycling program! Used oil, diesel and hydraulic fluid goes in tank near restroom; used batteries, gasoline, and antifreeze/coolant go to Hazmat Box down near Seaview Boatyard (south end)
  • Garbage goes in the green waste container, all recycling goes in the yellow containers.
  • Please put your donated “junk” (items you no longer need but don’t want to toss) near the dumpster and not at the gate, so more people can see them.
  • Remind your guests and crew to park near the street in Guest Parking. The Port is towing all vehicles that are parked in Permit Parking that don’t have a current year permit.
  • Please control your dogs (by your side or on a leash at all times) and please clean up after them! (the Seattle Leash Law is in effect on the docks, too)
  • To avoid smash and grab car break-ins, do not leave items visible in your car.
  • There have been prowlers on the docks and the waterways so please lock your boat, dinghy, etc and please call the Port’s cell phone, 601-4089, if you see anything/anyone suspicious.

Thank you for making this a great place to live and moor!

Shilshole VHF Radio Net

V-Man and Kids V-Man
(Vessel Mutual Assistance Network)

The VHF radio is an important safety item on board any boat and here at Shilshole, we also use it as a form of communication in times of emergency and/or critical events.

We have a weekly VHF radio net to help us get better acquainted with our marine radios, learn radio protocol (manners) and to get to know our neighbors.

The Net has a monitor (net controller), Sheri. She will explain what to do and when to do it. (You may want to just listen in the first time). The Port of Seattle Police and Marina Security also check in to give us an update on any marina issues.

Please join us for V-Man on VHF Channel 71 every Monday night at 8pm. No experience is required and all Shilshole tenants are welcome.

An hour earlier (7pm) on VHF 71, is the Kids V-Man check-in for all the boats that have children on board. It is an opportunity for them to get used to the radio and connect with other kids in the marina!  Parents-please help your kids participate.

Virtual National Night Out

The Port of Seattle’s National Night Out event is going virtual this year. Please join Port of Seattle Police (POSPD), Port of Seattle Fire (POSFD), and the Maritime Operations team for an online virtual program.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships to make our neighborhoods and Port facilities safer, and more caring places to live. Join us to learn about the different POSPD Specialty Units, their roles and responsibilities, and the important communities they serve.

Little Library at Shilshole

Shilshole Marina now has a Free Little Library, thanks to Sheri on Fredal!  She has worked hard to obtain permission from the Port, acquire materials, assemble and finish the project and, this week, install it at the Marina Office bldg.  You may have seen these neighborhood libraries throughout the city.  It is a place to leave a book, or take a book …no more having to use the laundry room shelf 🙂

Sheri is net control for the Monday eve V-Man checkin and is a board member of the Shilshole Liveaboard Assoc.
