Great Washington ShakeOut

October 20 @ 10:17 am – 10:30 am

Most of Washington is prone to earthquakes. You could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school or even on vacation.

What we do now will determine our quality of life after our next big earthquake. Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly?

The Great Washington ShakeOut is a statewide opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: “Drop, Cover and Hold On.” The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage you, your community, your school, or your organization to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries.

Note…there may be practice alarms and radio messages at this time.

To all Shilshole tenants…please fill out their survey in your email inbox!  This is an important way to express our concerns about marina security to the staff.  If you need further details, please email the Port at sbm@portseattle.org.

Boating to Canada

As most know, you need to have your documents in order to travel somewhat stress free.  If you are going to Canada next summer, start the process now. If you have a Nexus, don’t let it expire and start your renewal 6 months early, as there are still delays with processing. Read more on the Canada Border Services site.

If you travelled north this summer and have some suggestions, feel free to post here.

Race to Alaska on now…

6-22-22 update:  congratulations to Jonathan McKee from E dock and Team Pure & Wild for their 1st place finish. Day 5: Pure and Wild for the win, secret weapons, breakfast lasagna – Race to Alaska (r2ak.com)

It’s like the Iditarod, on a boat, with a chance of drowning, being run down by a freighter, or eaten by a grizzly bear. There are squalls, killer whales, tidal currents that run upwards of 20 miles an hour, and some of the most beautiful scenery on earth.  We have several boats from Shilshole-check out the race on the link below…
